Truth of the gospel of Christ

BYC is committed to upholding the truth of the gospel (Galatians 2:14). This includes promoting continued reformation and biblical worldview in the church. That is, the values that influence how we view, critique and interact with issues of our world. So that many in the church would cease from subscribing to philosophies and thinking patterns of the secular culture (Colossians 2:8).

In this age, more than ever, truth is a quality and concept that is being eroded in our very eyes, including in the church. In Matthew 5:16, as the church, we are to let our light shine before the world that they may see our good works and glorify God. Ironically, we see that the church is becoming more and more a reflection of the culture. The world is of course applauding this. It is the master scheme of the enemies of God.

In today’s culture, they say you stay relevant and successful by reflecting the value of the society you are in. Unfortunately, it has become common knowledge that this secular principle is spreading in the church like wildfire. It is consuming anything in its path, including the foundational ideologies and moral codes, fashioned from the eternal truth of the gospel of Christ.

We have been told in Romans 12:2 to desist from secular worldview, by not conforming to this world, but yet many in the church accede the popular, liberalist and humanistic views of our time. That verse also made it clear that we must be transformed by the renewal of our mind, that by testing we may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. The church must use the bible as the lens with which they critique all things including the philosophies of our time. All issues must be assessed based on the scripture as either good or bad, acceptable or unacceptable, perfect or imperfect. There should be no sitting on the fence as God totally abhors it, like he told the church in Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22).

We must therefore conform to our Lord Jesus as the church (the bride) in preparation for the coming of Christ (the bridegroom) for His bethrothed.
